Metal Sitting Buddha – MSB0004
Thailand, metal sitting body of Ayutthaya Buddha in 13th century (1351 to 1767). This image of Ayutthaya Buddha usually shown in the Indian manner with straight body. The right leg is positioned above the left leg. Both hands lie flat in the lap, palms facing upward, with the right hand on top of the left hand ( this is called Dhyana mudra position meditation and the meaning is concentration of the Good Law and the saṅgha ). Commonly the Buddha wearing a lot of ornaments and conical crown framing the serene visage with downcast eyes.
